NVIDIA Alpamayo 1 Surpasses 100,000 Downloads on Hugging Face, Continuing to Grow – Now the Most-Downloaded Robotics Model on Hugging Face (as of February 20)
The model is designed to help researchers and autonomous driving practitioners develop and evaluate vision-language-action (VLA) models for complex driving scenarios, particularly those involving rare, long-tail events.
Alpamayo is the industry's first chain-of-thought VLA reasoning model built for the autonomous driving research community. The Alpamayo family also includes simulation tools and datasets that empower autonomous vehicle development. These systems can progressively reason through rare or novel scenarios, enhancing driving capability and interpretability—both essential to building trust in intelligent vehicle safety systems. Its core technology is supported by the NVIDIA Halos safety system, aimed at advancing the development of safe and reliable reasoning-based autonomous vehicles.
The Alpamayo family, which includes Alpamayo 1, AlpaSim, and the Physical AI Open Dataset, supports the development of vehicles equipped with perception, reasoning, and human-like decision-making capabilities. These resources enable developers to fine-tune, distill, and test models, ultimately improving safety, robustness, and scalability.
