NVIDIA vGPU

NVIDIA Virtual GPU (vGPU) software delivers powerful GPU performance for a wide range of workloads—from graphics-intensive virtual workstations to data science and AI. It enables IT to leverage the management and security advantages of virtualization while providing the GPU power required for modern workloads. Installed on physical GPUs in cloud or enterprise data center servers, NVIDIA vGPU software creates virtual GPUs that can be shared across multiple virtual machines, accessible anytime, anywhere, from any device.

vGPU Explained: In a virtualization environment powered by NVIDIA vGPU, the vGPU software is installed alongside the hypervisor at the virtualization layer.

"How It Works

In NVIDIA virtual GPU–enabled environments, NVIDIA vGPU software is installed alongside the hypervisor at the virtualization layer. The software creates virtual GPUs, allowing each virtual machine (VM) to share the physical GPU installed in the server. For highly demanding workflows, a single VM can harness multiple physical GPUs. The software includes graphics and compute drivers for various VMs. By offloading tasks typically handled by the CPU onto the GPU, users gain a significantly better experience. Virtualized and cloud environments can thus support demanding engineering and creative applications, as well as compute-intensive workloads such as AI and data science."
